This spirited structure, designed by T.J. Raywood, was Oliver Houghton's Plaza hardware store.
T.J. Raywood came to Las Vegas from Covington, Ky., in 1879, and applied his architectural
talents here for four years, introducing Victorian Italianate and patterned brick designs. He left
in 1883, moving around southern New Mexico, Arizona and Mexico before returning to Las Vegas
to takeover McDonald's wholesale liquor business.
Babette Danziger rented space for her general merchandise store in the Houghton building and later in Trindad
Romero's building in the early 1900's
The two cast iron columns remain from this buildings original appearance.
