Lutz-Bacharach House 1003 5th Street; Built 1884
This is one of Las Vegas' finest stone mansions. Built of locally-quarried sandstone, the house's boxy exteriors and massive construction contrasts handsomely with the predominately wooden Queen Anne houses of the neighborhood. The house features heavy bracketed cornice at the roofline typical of Italianate Villa style, simliar to ones built by James H. Ward on Lincoln Part; Ward may have built this house, too. Contrasting quoins (corner stones) and window hoods accent the massive stone construction. You can still see the footprint of the deep veranda which was recently torn off.
